S&I Activities
Communicating Science
One of the key elements of the UK-Singapore Partners in Science initiative has been to demonstrate the excellence of UK science through top British scientists giving talks as part of the Distinguished Visitors Lecturer series. These have included Tom Blundell, Jocelyn Bell Burnell and Sir Richard Sykes.
Workshops and Collaboration Development Awards
Workshops to bring researchers, both young and experienced, together to discuss latest developments in science and explore opportunities for collaboration are a cornerstone of the initiative. Many high quality collaborations have been developed as a result of these workshops.
Exhibitions and competitions
Many have visited our exhibitions and participated in competitions, which have been held to engage the public and enabled a wide audience to learn about UK science (and to win superb prizes) in an enjoyable and interactive environment.
Evaluation
We have undertaken surveys of audiences to gain feedback on a selection of events. There have been consistently good results – with over 90% saying that the event had a positive impact on their view of the UK and with nearly 80% of respondents indicating that the events have positively influenced their likelihood of doing business with, or studying in UK.
