Important

If you are renewing your passport we may still ask for further documents. We need to see original documents that prove you are British. We cannot accept photocopies. Please note that a birth certificate is not absolute proof of identity, and even if you were born in the UK we may ask to see further documents.

Please note that we can add no more than 9 months unexpired validity from the old passport to the new one. You can renew your passport whenever you wish, but you must pay the full fee and no refund can be given for the unexpired validity in the old passport.

If you are applying for your first passport you may need to attend an interview. We recommend you submit your applications six weeks before you need your passport to travel and do not book any travel arrangements until the new passport is received.

The form comes with clear and detailed instructions. Please follow these carefully, as any errors or missing information will delay the processing of your application.

It is important to:

  • complete the form in CAPITAL LETTERS with a BLACK ballpoint pen
  • write only within the white boxed areas
  • leave other areas of the form blank (do not strike through or otherwise mark them)
  • Please ensure that the form is signed within the signature box

When you have completed the application form you should sign the form yourself. You should complete the countersignatory section following the instruction on the notes. The countersigner should sign the countersignatory section on the form and the back of one of your passport photographs (this cannot be done by the passport staff at the High Commission or a member of your family). They should also:

  • be over 18
  • be willing to write their passport number on the form

If you have been in Singapore a short time and cannot meet this requirement, please contact our passport unit on 6424 4200. Further details of who can sign are available in the notes accompanying the form.

* Full length birth certificates can be ordered on line through the General Register Office of England and Wales, the General Register Office for birth in Scotland and the General Register Office for Northern Ireland.  read more
