Investors in People Accreditation

Singapore BHC is very proud to have successfully achieved IiP accreditation on 5 January 2004. The assessment was conducted over a two-day period and involved the IiP Assessor visiting the BHC in Singapore. During this time a full sample of staff were interviewed to include all sections and grades.

The principal findings in the assessment report were:

• The level of commitment to people training and development is of a good standard and recognised as such by all employees.

• People have a very good understanding of their roles and are clear about how they contribute to the work of the High Commission.

• Induction of staff is taken seriously, new support programmes have been developed and a good level of support is provided by the Management Section to ensure new staff, both UK diplomatic and Singapore based, become effective employees as quickly as possible.

• The culture of support throughout the High Commission and its departments is good.

• Senior managers are visible and accessible.

• A significant number of staff, both UK based and Singapore-based, have been involved in the High Commission’s IiP development group."(Investors in People Assessment Report, David Murray-Smith, December 2003
