If you’re a UK national living or travelling abroad, using the FCO LOCATE service to register your contact details will allow our staff to get in touch if there is a crisis where you are.

Our online registration service LOCATE is for all British nationals to tell us about your travel and/or residence outside the United Kingdom - whether short trips or long-term stays.

Please use it to tell us where you are travelling to or where you live.

If there's a crisis where you are, British consular staff can contact you to help and can let family and friends know that you are safe.

It takes only a few minutes to register your overseas contact details and travel plans online. There is no need to contact us directly.  Register now.

Benefits of registering with Locate?

If a major catastrophe occurs we’ll have an instant record of your details so we can contact you to make sure you’re OK and provide advice if family and friends need to get in touch with you we can help them to find you.

We’re confident Locate will improve our ability to provide help in crisis situations and reduce delay and worry in times of stress for family and friends at home.

Who can register?

We’re encouraging ALL British Nationals travelling and living overseas to register with Locate, even for short trips.

How do I register with Locate?

Complete the short online registration form which can be found at: https://www.locate.fco.gov.uk/locateportal/

You only need to register for the service once and then update your account when you make a new trip abroad. You can even add planned trips abroad up to a year ahead.

What happens to my details if I register?

Your details will be stored on a secure database which can only be accessed by staff in our embassies or our Consular Crisis Group.

+ we will only use your details to contact you
+ we will delete the details of a trip once it has ended
+ we will NOT pass your details to third parties unless it is important to your safety.

I've already subscribed to the Foreign Office's Online Services - is this the same thing?

No, you still need to register with Locate.

Will I get travel advice updates if I register with Locate?

No, but you can quickly subscribe for county travel advice email alerts.




Consular Section in Singapore

The Consular Section is open to public (for passport applications and consular assistance) from 08:45 to midday, Monday to Friday excluding High Commission holidays.
