Our service fees

(Updated February 2012) 

Rates of exchange and currency

Fees must be paid in Singapore dollars.  The fees are set in pounds sterling and converted at the Consular Rate of Exchange of £1 = S$2.04.  Fees are subject to change at short notice.

Methods of payment 

Postal applications

For all postal applications please add $3.00 per application for the return of your consular application by registered mail. For postal applications we can only accept payment by cheque, cashier's order or credit card using the credit card payment authorisation form [PDF, 72KB, opens in new window].

Please do not include cash with your application.

Any incomplete application received will be returned to the applicant.

Applications presented in person

For applications presented in person, we can accept payment by cash, cheque, cashier's order (payable to "British High Commission Singapore") or credit card.  However we are unable to accept payment by personal cheque for any service provided in less than 3 working days.

We only accept Visa and Master credit cards.

We are unable to accept NETS, Maestro cards, American Express, JCB or Diners’ Club cards.

NB:
In Singapore, the notarised document must first be brought to the Singapore Academy of Law thence to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs before it is brought for legalisation at the British High Commission Singapore.

NB: This fee is charged solely for standard letters issued by the High Commission.

NB:
Consular staff in Commonwealth countries have no general powers under the Commissioners for Oaths Act 1889 to do notarial acts.  Services of this nature should be referred to persons who under local law are competent to perform them (e.g. Notaries Public).

If you have lost your renunciation certificate, you need to apply directly to the United Kingdom Border Agency (UKBA) for a duplicate certificate.
Print Form NC and the Payment Slip to apply for the duplicate certificate.

A full refund will be made for renunciations that are not registered.
In addition to the Home Office fees, consular fee number 10 is charged for forwarding applications to the Home Office.
