We aim to process applications for birth registration within five working days.

A Singapore birth certificate is sufficient for most purposes, including British passport applications however consular birth registration can provide your child with a British-style birth certificate and a permanent and accessible record of the birth registration.

To register the birth, the following documentation should be presented:

1) a completed application form, available from Consular Section or for download here (see below).

2) the child’s local birth certificate.

3) the parents' marriage certificate (if applicable)

4) the parents' passports and full length birth certificates* (short birth certificates cannot be accepted).

5) divorce certificates, decree absolute (if applicable)

6) The fee. There is a charge for this service. Please refer to our Consular fee page for more information.

*Full length birth certificates can be ordered on line through the General Register Office of England and Wales, the General Register Office for birth in Scotland and the General Register Office for Northern Ireland.
