UKTI Singapore helped to tie-up Jay Gee Enterprises and T.M.Lewin
One of London's most established shirt brands for men - T.M.Lewin, has set-up its first shop in Singapore at the Changi Airport Terminal 2 in March.
Geoff Quinn, Managing Director of T.M. Lewin, attended the ASEAN Retail seminar organised by UKTI in London in May 2008. He met a UKTI representative and expressed keen interest in the Singapore market. An OMIS was commissioned soon after.
Singapore was chosen because Mr Quinn identified it is the 'Ideal Gateway to Asia', the best place to start the brand's first forays outside the UK.
UKTI Singapore arranged for a visit programme for Mr Quinn in July 2008, where he met with a few potential Singaporean partners. All the potential partners were keen on the brand, as it is one of London's most established shirt brands, uncompromising on quality.
Eventually at the beginning of 2009, T.M.Lewin inked a partnership with Jay Gee Enterprises. The first shop was opened in March 2009 at Changi Airport Terminal 2, and there are plans for at least five shops in the region within the next year.
