UKTI invites firms to 'speed date' at TechnologyWorld09

Technology companies should sign up now to attend TechnologyWorld09, the UK's largest technology 'speed dating' event, which last year reported more than £30.4 million of business wins.

UK Trade & Investment (UKTI), the main organiser, will bring together UK and international buyers at Ricoh Arena in Coventry from 23-24 November to generate global business opportunities.

Last year, 380 UK and international companies attended, holding 1,325 meetings over two days. They included firms such as Panasonic, Nokia, Ricoh, Hitachi, Samsung SDS, ROHM, Vinaphone and Vietnam Telecom Services Company.

Similar numbers are expected at TechnologyWorld09, where there will be a strong speaking program of industry specialists discussing hot topics such as mobile health and green technology.

Launching the registration website at a Cambridge Wireless event on Thursday 30 April, Robert Driver, Director of UKTI's High Technology Sector, said:

"TechnologyWorld09 offers firms a chance to discover the latest innovations, to do business with UK and international companies, and to be inspired by leading experts through the new seminar programme.

"Many companies have already expressed an interest in participating in TechnologyWorld09 and I encourage all those involved in this sector to register on the event website now."

Last year, over 80% of visitors rated the range of companies they met at the event as 'excellent' or 'good'. Exhibitors rated the quality of contacts as especially high.

TechnologyWorld09 is aimed at companies in communications; electronics, enterprise software systems and services; mobile health and low carbon technology.

Delegate feedback from TechnologyWorld08

Fujitsu Electronics Hiroyuki Sekiyama said:

"As a company with large product manufacturer clients, we're always looking for high-quality and new technologies and I find UK companies' technology is of a high standard. That’s why we attended TechnologyWorld08. We found it easy to contact the companies we were interested in and have in-depth conversations about potential business deals."

Inkspot Science Joanna Berry said:

"We attended TechnologyWorld08 because it gave us access to a range of local and international companies who may be interested in working with us. Being a small company only recently launched, the event gave us access to people we wouldn’t otherwise be able to talk to, such as Panasonic and Fujitsu.  So it’s giving us a hugely ramped up start to what we hope will be a very exciting year of activity. We’ll definitely attend next year."

UK-based Inkspot Science provides an online environment for scientists to 'do science', analyse and share their data completely securely. It provides small and medium enterprises with a competitive advantage at a very, very low cost, against larger companies which can afford very expensive proprietary in house systems.
